Pillar One - Building Trust and Legitimacy

The fundamental first pillar of 21st century policing emphasizes cultivating trust and establishing legitimacy - elements crucial to the development of a harmonious bond between the police force and civilians.

Research studies have indicated a surge in law-abiding behavior when citizens view law enforcement entities as legitimate.

To attain this objective, it is imperative that procedural justice is exercised, transparency in operations is maintained, and the unique norms and values of the community are respected.
